Sports Report for Term 2

This term has been an extremely long, jam packed season, with hockey, netball, rugby and soccer fixtures on many days of the week and festivals on Saturdays.

At the end of last term all the hockey coaches attended a course in Pietermaritzburg on umpiring, goalie coaching, technique and updates of new hockey rules. Richmond Primary School also held a cricket coaching clinic which was open to all the local schools.

All our fixtures have gone off smoothly, with RPS winning 70% of our matches and on that note congratulations to the U10 girls hockey, U11 rugby and U11 soccer teams which have won all their games so far.

Grade one and two boys played in three soccer festivals at St Charles. What excitement for them as they won most of their 10 minute matches.

All our rugby teams recorded wins against one of the bigger Pietermaritzburg schools.

We are pleased that Nombasa Magubane was selected for the U13 KZN hockey team.

The support from all the parents at matches has been wonderful and the learners really enjoy the support.

Sports Report for Term 1

We have had a very busy first term with our kids playing much sport. Our boys cricket teams have done exceptionally well and won most of their matches. The highlight being that all our teams beat Scottsville Primary.

Boys and girls played mini cricket this term and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They have played in a few festivals at Howick, St Charles and Ixopo. This is a first for girls to bowl out some boys!

The Open tennis girls have won all their matches this term. The U11 girls played matches for the first time and have played their best.

We hosted a mini gala at Richmond Primary and we have swum in other galas in Maritzburg. We came 7th out of 10 schools at the C Gala which was a great achievement as we had to pull out of 3 races due to swimmers being sick.

Thank you to all the sports coaches for all their effort and the staff for helping at the galas. Thanks to Stuart for keeping our pool sparkling.

We held our inter-house gala on Saturday 1 March and it was such fun! The children swam like stars and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

For the first time ever we had two groups of girls doing synchronised swimming and they performed artistically and with grace. Well done, Girls!

The following records were broken:
